According to the American Veterinary Medical Association’s 2017-2018 edition of the Pet Ownership and Demographics Sourcebook 57 percent of U.S. households include at least one companion animal. Amanda Ree, an Ayurvedic health practitioner and team member of the Chopra Center for Wellbeing, suggests that because our animals share our lives so closely, they are as impacted by people and events as we are. Her “Six Pillars of Dog Wellbeing,” include Dosha (an Ayurvedic classification), Food, Behavior, Body/ Mind, Emotional, and Spiritual.
